Everyday Independence to instate an NDIS Provider Travel cost

From 1 July 2023, Everyday Independence will be instating a Provider Travel – non-labour cost, in line with the NDIS price guide.

Everyday Independence has always charged for the time it takes to travel in line with the NDIS guidelines and will continue to do so. In the NDIS 2020/2021 price guide, a Provider Travel non-labour cost of 97c per km was introduced to allow providers to charge for the distance travelled to and from sessions. However, Everyday Independence chose not to pass this on to its participants, while many smaller providers did.

From 1 July 2023, this additional travel component will be instated, and participants will be billed based on the following:

  1. Therapy time (already in place)
  2. Therapy travel time (already in place and covers the time travelled to/ from the participants’ home or preferred community location)
  3. Provider Travel non-labour cost of 97c per km (new and commencing 1 July 2023 – covers the distance travelled to/ from the participant’s home or preferred community location)

While Everyday Independence will endeavour to minimise these costs where possible, we understand that these changes may present some challenges for participants. If this is the case for you or someone you care for, please contact your practitioner or your local therapy hub, and we will work together to minimise the impact.
