Confidence in Motion: Sally’s Path to Independence

Nine-year old Sally loves gymnastics and being active with other children her age.   When Sally’s parents connected with Everyday Independence for NDIS early childhood supports, her therapy team incorporated her interests into her therapy plan, supporting her to build skills and strengthen her connections with family, friends and teachers.

Led by Sally’s Early Childhood Key Worker, Maddie, Sally’s therapy team includes Physiotherapist, Cheng and Habit Coach, Caitlin.

With a degree in early childhood development, Key Worker Maddie draws on her knowledge of child development to plan and coordinate therapy services. She works closely with a team of therapists and practitioners including speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and habit coaches, to support children with disabilities and developmental delays to build their everyday skills.

Habit Coach Caitlin, who has a background in gymnastics, played an important role in supporting Sally and her family. Working under the guidance of Physiotherapist Cheng, Caitlin helped Sally to practice new skills and develop new habits to build her confidence and skills in movement-based everyday activities.

As Sally’s confidence grew, her family chose to enrol her in local gymnastics classes, supporting her to continue to build new skills and take part in activities she enjoys.

“As Sally’s Key Worker, I especially enjoyed seeing the collaboration between therapists to support Sally.”
