Positive Change Push: Bayside Delivers the Gift of Reading
As part of Everyday Independence’s Positive Change Push, our Bayside team in Victoria has turned a simple idea into a powerful act of community connection. Through a combination of generous team member donations and newly purchased titles, the team collected a wide range of children’s books and distributed them to local schools, childcares, libraries, and community groups across the Bayside region.
Amongst the titles was Patience is Power – a children’s book created by our Sutherland team during a previous Positive Change Push.
Written and illustrated in collaboration with one of our talented participants, the book helps young readers understand disability through the lens of compassion and patience. You can read more about their initiative here!
The Positive Change Push empowers Everyday Independence teams across Australia to lead grass roots initiatives that promote inclusion and reshape perceptions of disability. The Bayside team’s book drive is a shining example of how small, thoughtful actions can create meaningful change.
We wanted to use our funding to create an initiative that would continue giving long after the books were delivered.
