On Sunday, 1 March, our Launceston change makers were proud to team up with Blind Cricket Tasmania, Inclusive Innovations Tasmania, and the Mowbray Cricket Club to host a community day of inclusive sport and family fun at Invermay Park in Launceston.
The first-ever Inclusion Club Cup featured the Tasmania Blind and Low Vision Tigers taking on Mowbray Cricket Club’s First XI in an action‑packed match of Blind and Low Vision (BLV) SONIX Cricket. Attendees also enjoyed a day of family friendly activities, goodie bags and a chance to try BLV Sonix Cricket themselves.
BLV SONIX Cricket blends the pace of indoor cricket with Big Bash–style excitement.
The accessible format features eight‑a‑side teams, 14 overs, power plays, potential super overs, batting pairs, wicket penalties, and closer marked boundaries for higher scoring. With four sighted players from the Mowbray Cricket Club’s first XI wearing blackout glasses simulating low-vision, creating a fast, inclusive experience for all abilities.
General Manager- Service Delivery, Harley Hayes and Area lead- Regional VIC/TAS Mitch Trevena were also hand to present the Inclusion Club Cup to the winning side – Mowbray Cricket Club.
The Inclusion Club Cup is a great example of how inclusive sport can bring communities together and create opportunities for everyone to get involved. It was fantastic to see Mowbray Cricket Club come together with the Tasmania Blind and Low Vision Tigers to form such strong partnerships and energy on the day.

This match is one of many initiatives made possible through the Positive Change Push, which empowers Everyday Independence teams across Australia to design and lead grass roots projects that champion inclusion and shift perceptions of disability. These experiences not only build confidence and connection but also strengthen the sense of belonging within local communities.

A massive shout out to our Launceston change makers along with Blind Cricket Tasmania, Inclusive Innovations Tasmania, and the Mowbray Cricket Club for championing inclusion, strengthening community partnerships, and creating a day where everyone could get involved, give it a go, and enjoy the spirit of the game!
