What Is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?

Psychosocial recovery coaching is for young people with a psychosocial disability who want support to better understand themselves, navigate life, and build independence over time. It focuses on your goals, your values, and the kind of life you want to lead.

We start by understanding what’s going on in your life and what you want to work towards, then create a practical plan with clear, real-life steps. Together, we build strategies to support everyday activities and help you manage challenges in a practical, achievable way.

What You Can Expect With Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

You’ll have regular online coaching sessions  alongside structured reviews to track your progress, refine your goals, and keep things moving in the right direction. Support is flexible and tailored to you, so it can adapt as your needs and priorities change.

The focus is on building your mindset and strengthening your wellbeing skills. Together, you’ll work on managing stress, making decisions, navigating change, building routines, and strengthening emotional wellbeing. It’s about helping you feel more steady and in control as you work toward your goals.

One Team Around You

Our psychosocial recovery coaching can be accessed on its own, alongside other employment supports, or together with therapy services.

If you choose to take therapy services, you’ll be supported by a youth team who works together on your work and life goals, guided by a youth lead practitioner.

With everyone on the same page, you’ll receive clear direction and consistent support to help you make the most of your NDIS funded supports.

Who is psychosocial recovery coaching for?

This service is for young people with a psychosocial disability who want support to build independence, confidence, and a meaningful life on their terms.

Who is eligible for the psychosocial recovery coaching?

Any NDIS participant aged 15 – 25 years who has Capacity Building Supports – Finding and Keeping a Job – Psychosocial Recovery Coaching funding in their plan is eligible.

This service is also available to people aged 26 years and above who have the funding.

Who is a psychosocial recovery coach?

A psychosocial recovery coach can be degree qualified youth workers, social workers, nurses, educators, and psychology students, people with a Cert IV in Mental Health and more.

They work alongside you to build confidence, resilience, and practical skills to support your mental health as you move through work, study, and everyday life.

At Everyday Independence, our recovery coaches are psychologists who use their understanding of mental health to work alongside you and your support network. They help you understand your situation, build confidence, and take practical steps toward your goals through regular coaching focused on psychosocial disability and recovery.

How is psychosocial recovery coaching delivered?

We deliver the psychosocial recovery coaching online for flexibility and accessibility.

What funding can be used?

For psychosocial recovery coaching you’ll need Capacity Building Supports – Finding and Keeping a Job Funding – Psychosocial Recovery Coaching. 

To access NDIS Therapy Services, Capacity Building Supports,including Improved Daily Living funding (therapy) or Behaviour Support (Improved Relationships) funding is required.

Our therapists can support you to access any of this funding if employment is one of your goals.

What is the cancellation policy for psychosocial recovery sessions?

We understand that plans can change. To keep things fair and make sure appointments are available for others, we ask for at least 7 days’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your psychosocial recovery session.

Cancellations made within 7 days may be treated as a short notice cancellation.

What areas do you deliver psychosocial recovery coaching?

We provide our psychosocial recovery coaching online to people living across VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, ACT, and TAS.

What other youth employment services do you provide?

Our youth employment and vocational services include an employment program, vocational assessment and support to help you access employment funding.
