NDIS Speech Pathology Geelong

From expressing yourself, joining in conversations or sharing a meal with family and friends, expect our team to build your confidence and equip you to do the things you want, your way.

How our NDIS Speech Pathology Delivers More

When you work with Everyday Independence Geelong, our speech pathologists support you in your community as part of a broader team so they can look at your life from different angles and plan and deliver the right support strategies.

Your therapy team may include a speech pathologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, key worker, positive behaviour practitioner, and habit coaches. By delivering therapy in familiar places like your home, school, work or community, we can identify real-world barriers and provide strategies that fit into your daily routines.

This approach is what we call the Everyday Way and it’s all about ensuring your NDIS funded therapy has the greatest impact on your quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t I come into a clinic for my sessions?

We deliver speech pathology in the places that matter to you – your home, school, workplace and community. This helps you to practice your skills in real-life environments and change community attitudes that may be holding you back. Clinics are simulated environments which don’t present the same barriers and challenges as real-life, everyday environments.

What age groups does Everyday Independence provide speech pathology to?

We provide speech pathology services to children, teenagers, and adults.

We provide children up to nine years with disabilities with speech pathology through our NDIS early childhood supports. A key worker, usually a degree-qualified teacher, will plan and lead your child’s services and coordinate with a team of therapists and practitioners to help them build skills and get the best start in life.

What happens during the initial speech pathology session?

The first step is an initial assessment with a speech pathologist or lead practitioner to understand your participation and support needs across all aspects of your life. Your speech pathologist will look beyond limitations to focus on your goals and aspirations. They’ll look at the activities you do every day, alongside the challenges you face, the people who support you and the environment you live in.

Then they’ll create a one, two or three year therapy plan, which outlines the best mix of practitioners (including a habit coach) and strategies to help you achieve the breakthroughs required on your pathway towards positive change.

What happens after the initial sessions?

After the initial sessions you’ll then move into a regular rhythm of therapy overseen by your primary therapist plus a mix of other practitioners (eg. occupational therapist, physiotherapist, behaviour support practitioner, and habit coach) depending on the goals you set. You may have a burst of therapy sessions conducted by your occupational therapist and then practice the routines and skills with a habit coach between therapy sessions.

Do you provide services to privately paying clients?

We accept speech pathology referrals for privately paying clients who are looking to work with a therapy team made up of at least two services, along with a habit coach who supports the practice of routines and skill-building between sessions.

Please note: we do not provide Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services to privately paying customers.

If you’re looking for a single service—such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or speech pathology, we’re happy to receive your enquiry and will do our best to support you based on practitioner availability in your area.

Our private rates are the same as the NDIS rates.

What are NDIS early childhood supports?

Early childhood supports (or early childhood intervention services) helps children with developmental delay and/or disabilities and their families access support to promote their child’s wellbeing, community participation and development.

As children’s brains grow most during their early years, the earlier they receive early intervention services, the better the outcome will likely be.

Early childhood supports promote:

  • optimal chances of physical development
  • improved social and emotional outcomes
  • ability to participate in everyday activities
  • positive behaviours and ability to engage in learning
  • confidence, resilience and independence

See our early childhood supports page for more information.

I only need speech pathology for my child aged under nine years. Can I access speech pathology services only?

We accept NDIS referrals for people who are looking to work with a therapy team made up of at least two services, along with a habit coach who supports the practice of routines and skill-building between sessions.

If you’re looking for a single service such as speech pathology, we’re happy to receive your enquiry and will do our best to support you based on practitioner availability in your area.

Our private rates are the same as the NDIS rates.
