As the COVID situation in Australia changes quickly, we are here to support our participants. We are committed to providing therapy in the safest and most effective way. As part of this, our therapists will continue to follow COVID safety protocols when delivering therapy.

Our therapists will get in touch with their participants to agree on a plan to support them to continue working towards their goals. This will include planning what to do if they are in isolation or test positive for COVID.

We’re taking the following steps to ensure the safety of our participants and team members:

  • If a therapy session is being delivered in person, we may hold sessions outdoor where possible to reduce the risk of COVID. This can be in places such as:
    • the local park
    • in the garden or veranda
    • an outdoor gym, or
    • on a walk in the community.
  • Therapists will wear a face mask during therapy visits and follow government advice, including handwashing and keeping appropriate social distance.
  • At the beginning of each therapy appointment, the therapist will ask questions related to COVID for any person present at the appointment.
  • Therapists can also support their participants with an online or phone appointment, which is a great alternative option to continue therapy and achieve outcomes.
  • If a therapist or another team member has COVID symptoms or has been a close contact of a person who has tested positive, they will isolate at home and deliver therapy online where possible. Due to the shortage of Rapid Antigen Tests in Australia, our therapists are unable to take a test before each appointment. However, we are working on obtaining these tests as a matter of urgency.

We understand that the recent COVID developments may be stressful and bring new challenges. The Everyday Independence team is available on 1300 179 131 to answer any questions, and offer additional support if needed.
