Everyday Independence founder and director Leanne Healey is a Victorian finalist in the 2020 Telstra Business Women’s Awards which are being announced on Tuesday, March 17th.
Leanne founded Everyday Independence in 1997 and today it’s one of the largest interdisciplinary therapy providers in Australia, offering occupational therapy, speech pathology and physiotherapy to people living with disabilities and their families.
“I am humbled by this honour and especially pleased to able to use this opportunity to talk to the wider community about the importance of increasing participation of people living with a disability in our society,” she said.
Leanne is an exceptional Occupational Therapist with over 32 years’ experience. She is committed to bringing a social model of disability to Allied Health practice in Australia and Everyday Independence is unique in thoroughly embedding this into our approach.
“Supporting people with a disability to reach their unique potential and removing barriers that limit their participation in everyday life, has a profound impact on the whole of the community,” said Leanne.
Today, she is at the helm of a dynamic allied health organisation with over 300 team members who are all working towards the goal of supporting people living with disabilities to live to their full potential and enjoy an everyday life.
“I established Everyday Independence to bring the best therapeutic supports for those living with disability into one practice and change lives for the better,” she said.
The success of Everyday Independence has been due to the investment in team member development, the ability to incorporate the use of leading-edge technology in therapy practices and putting the person with a disability at the centre of everything that we do.
“At Everyday Independence it is our responsibility to run a sustainable organisation that can deliver on the NDIS outcomes and continue to develop innovative support models that put the power in the hands of the person with a disability,” Leanne said.
In 2020, Telstra Business Women’s Awards celebrates 25 years of recognising the outstanding women in business.
Leanne is a Victorian finalist for the Medium and Large Business Award which recognises high-achieving and ambitious women who define the direction of their business.
The Victorian winners of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards will be announced on March 17th.
We congratulate all the nominees in the Awards and wish Leanne all the very best on the night.
